Profession: Business Owner/Student

Where Are You From?

Born and raised in Australia but family is originally from Bolivia

What Are Your Favourite Clubs?

Arsenal FC, Juventus FC, Olympique Marseille, Club Atletico River Plate

Which Teams Do You Support In The World Cup & Why?

Socceroos, France and Argentina. The Socceroos because I’m Australian and it would be un-Australian not to support them. France because their 1998 triumph left a mark on me and my favourite club Arsenal FC has a big French influence. Argentina because I’ve always been a big admirer of Diego Maradona and because half my family actually lives there. It’s a place I’ve visited many times in the past.

Earliest Memory of the World Cup?

France 1998 is the first World Cup that I watched with great interest. I can recall bits and pieces of USA 1994 but not enough to have affection for it. The 1998 final is the one that remained with me because I totally expected Brazil to win it and was kind of shocked to see France win.

All Time Favourite Players And Why?

Diego Maradona – quite simply the greatest player to kick a ball, as a child I was introduced to him and after seeing videos of him, I was converted and still am.

Johann Cruyff – the Dutch master is one of the most technically gifted players ever. Such a shame he couldn’t lead his nation to World Cup glory.

Pele – any player who scores more than 1,200 goals over a career is incredibly talented.

All Time Favourite Coaches And Why?

Mario Zagallo – He won the World Cup with Brazil as a player in both 1958 and 1962 and then he won the World Cup as the head coach in 1970. Furthermore, he won it again as assistant coach in 1994 and took the team to the final in 1998.

Guus Hiddink – He is the ultimate master of getting the best out of his players. In 1998, he took the Netherlands to a 4th place finish and then followed this up by leading unfancied South Korea to the semi finals in 2002. He also took the unfancied Australians to the second round in 2006 who were narrowly beaten by a penalty in the 94th minute.

Why Do You Love Football?

I love football because there is no other sport which ressembles life like it. People think that football is meant to be fair, but it’s not. Just look at what Thierry Henry did to beat the Irish and get his country to the finals. Look at how Spain were disallowed 3 goals in the quarter final against South Korea in 2002. I mean, football is unfair sometimes and so is life. The other major reason why I like it is because it is a low scoring game. I know that followers of other sports will find hard to understand this. But you have to realise that a goal in a football match is much harder to come by and is celebrated wildly. It also means that at any point during the match any team can overturn a game within minutes regardless of their performance. Football is a great leveller. Everyone is equal on a football pitch. I love that!

Favourite WAG?

Being a footballer myself (at least a casual one), I have to say my gorgeous girlfriend. But if you are referring to other footballers, and if the rumours are indeed true, then it would have to be Kim Kardashian. This is assuming that Cristiano Ronaldo is indeed dating her.

Where Are You From?

Raised in Australia but family is originally from Bangladesh

What Are Your Favourite Clubs?

Arsenal FC, Sydney FC, FC Barcelona, Nottingham Forest

Which Teams Do You Support In The World Cup & Why?

Australia, Spain and Holland. Australia obviously because I’m Australian. Spain and Holland I am big admirers of because they are so technically brilliant and are a joy to watch when they are attacking the opponents goal. They are the true entertainers of football.

Earliest Memory of the World Cup?

France 1998 is the first World Cup that I watched and is still my favourite World Cup finals. I watched bits and pieces of it, but the biggest memory was definitely the final, where France beat Brazil 3-0. It was a turning point in my life because I could truly say that after that historic match, I have been a football fanatic ever since, and have never looked back.

All Time Favourite Players And Why?

Diego Maradona – what a player! Words just can’t describe how awesome he was with his dribbling and goal scoring prowess. I hope we are seeing a reincarnation of the great man in Lionel Messi, apparently he has a lot of similar traits.

All Time Favourite Coaches And Why?

Arsene Wenger – An astute tactician, who plays the best brand of football that is not only a joy to watch, but is effective in beating opponents and making them look silly! He deserves so much credit for turning ordinary players and turning them into world beating superstars.

Guus Hiddink – Quite simply a magician. It cannot be coincidence that every time this man manages a team (especially national teams) the team manages to overachieve and can dare to dream. Just like Wenger, he gets the best out of his players and more, taking them beyond anyone’s expectations.

Why Do You Love Football?

Umm is that even a question? Football is my life, without it my life would be vastly different (seriously). It is the greatest sport of them all, which brings people together regardless of their skin colour, background, religion etc. Football is a language we all speak. It is such a simple game, anyone can play, it and everyone enjoys watching it. It is a game that is celebrated like crazy all over the world, and I don’t want to be an ordinary guest at this party, I want to be one of the main VIP guests.

Favourite WAG?

Believe it or not I don’t follow the WAGs much! I really don’t know which player has which girlfriend at all, so I’m going to cheat with this one.

The host of all the football matches here on the Fox Sports channel in Australia is Melanie McLaughlin. He has a keen interest in football and is an absolute stunner. Might not be a WAG, but is probably going to be a future WAG at this rate, so she is my unofficial favourite WAG.
